| TOBY SCHWARTZ Co-owner
/ Producer |
| Toby Schwartz started his career
as a filmmaker and producer the way so many young artists
have embarked on their journey of self discovery and perpetual
struggle...as an English major at a cushy New England
university. |
| Upon his return
to Texas to further his education, he enlisted in a
writing class taught by an accomplished Hollywood screenwriter.
And the rest is history. Three years and countless film
and video productions later, he found himself as a production
manager and staff editor for Texas World Television
where he worked with major clients like Coca Cola, MTV,
Nike, and more
Then in 2002, his good friend
and film school companion John Gibson called. |
 |
| A decision was made.
They would re-unite the team that made such film school
hits as "Medicine Go Down" and "Simon Joshua"
under the name of the production company they started
so many years before- Real Normal. |
| Only this
time it would be different. This time they would play
by their own rules. Everything they had learned from their
years of experience in the production industry would be
used for good, not evil. No price gouging, no hidden costs,
no boring productions. All emphasis would be on the client
and their vision for the project. Balance would be restored. |
|
| JOHN GIBSON Co-owner
/ Producer |
| John Gibson, co-owner
of Real Normal, is no stranger to the art of visual media
production. An auteur since the age of ten, John has been
creating visual entertainment since the advent of the
home video revolution. |
 |
| With a degree in
Film and Visual Media and experience in numerous visual
genres, he continues to be ever pursuant of knowledge
of theories, techniques, and tools within a diverse
selection of mediums. John has most recently worked
as Director of Video Production for SubstanceTV, a DVD
video magazine, directing and editing original presentations
on various subjects from around the world. |
| He has also worked as
Video Production Director for Gathering of Developers.
a well-known game producer, creating game trailers and
videos for PR and marketing. |
|
| DANA PRICE Production
Coordinator |
| Dana Price likes the
term "Jack of All Trades". And it fits her well.
She started in production as an actor. It was her time
on the set and around the crew that sparked her passion
for the industry. |
| She then came around to
the other side of the camera as she directed her first
film, a short satire called "Coming Out".
The response was tremendous. It was chosen by the Texas
Filmmaker's Showcase to play at the Director's Guild
Theater in Los Angeles and on KERA public television.
With a successful film under her
belt, Dana moved on to television where she was the
Local Project Manager for the History Channel and "American
Idol" season one. |
 |
| She made such an impression
with "American Idol" that she was hired as Production
Coordinator for season two where she travelled to help
produce in New York, Nashville and Austin. |
| Dana is now back in Austin,
the city she loves, and Real Normal Productions is excited
to bring her talent and experience aboard. |
|
| MIKE BRANNON Multimedia
Director |
| Mike Brannon
is the newest addition to the RNP circus and is versed
in all facets of the multimedia discipline including traditional
print and graphic design, interactive design, digital
video production and animation. He brings with him extensive
experience in information architecture, back-end database
design, JavaScript, MySQL and Perl scripting. Additionally,
he creates one-of-a-kind print materials, stunning websites,
enhanced CDs, and interactive Kiosk presentations. |
|
Mike’s first taste of graphic
design was as the design editor for a nationally recognized
high school newspaper and yearbook in Dallas where he
was the recipient of several National NSPA (National
Scholastic Press Association) awards for digital graphics
and page design.
After graduating from the University of Texas in 1999
with degrees in Cognitive Psychology and Business Administration,
Mike worked at several Austin Internet and technology
companies. |
 |
This
provided him an invaluable insight into corporate marketing
strategies and solid presentation design that is crucial
in setting a company apart from its competitors.
Realizing the importance of effective
branding and his frustration with companies’ shoddy
attempts of doing so, he gravitated back to his original
passion of design and hit the books once again to save
the world of ugly multimedia design. Armed with a third
degree in Visual Communication Design, Mike launched
Brannon Multimedia in 2002. He used every skill in his
arsenal to produce high-end HTML and Flash websites,
digital video, interactive CDs, DVDs, and print materials
that seamlessly integrated into single, unique corporate
identities. His clients included everything from small
local businesses to Fortune 500 companies.
In 2003, Mike relocated to sunny Chicago, where he spent
a year further cultivating his skills in the fast-paced
and demanding culture of the Windy City. Then, on a
particularly nasty winter day, he picked up the phone
and found Toby Schwartz, his old college roommate and
co-founder of RNP, on the other end. It was decided
that they would join forces and build Real Normal Productions
into a premier multimedia and production company in
Austin. Mike packed up and moved from Chicago back to
Austin in less than a month to launch the new multimedia
division of RNP at the end of 2003. The fourth side
of the circle has now been filled and Real Normal Productions
has truly become the proverbial “one stop shop”
for all our clients' design needs. |
